365 Photo Project

I am taking on the daunting task of taking a picture every day for a year. I'm on day 18 and believe me.. it's not as easy as it sounds. I'll be posting the pics on the 365 Photo Project site, my Flickr account, and on facebook, so feel free to follow my progress.

I'm hoping this challenge will help me to be diligent about being behind the camera daily. I love being behind the camera, but there are days that become too busy and the camera goes untouched. Sometimes those days turn into weeks. Picking up the camera daily helps me become very familiar with my instrument, helps me sharpen my skill, helps me train my eyes to see things with different perspective and forces me to be creative. Being behind the camera is also a time of worship for me. A quiet time for me to spend with the Lord. A time for me to acknowledge him as magnificent creator and praise him for the works of his hands. It's amazing how much beauty you see with one eye closed and the other looking through that little square box. Beauty that may have otherwise gone un-noticed or taken for granted in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Hopefully I'll prove to be a better daily picture taker than blogger. :)

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1: 15-17

Let it Snow!

I haven't blogged in AGES!! I know, I know! I warned you that October thru December was a crazy time for me. Hopefully this first entry of 2011 will be the start of me being a more diligent blogger. Time will tell. :)

This weekend Dallas had its first snow of the season! I say first, because I'm hoping we have at least one more and hopefully the next one will have a bit more substance. I mean, the rest of the US seems to be in a state of "Winter Wonderlandment" (yeah, I made that up) and what do we get in Dallas? Bitter cold without the white stuff that can make even the most miserable scene picturesque. We want ours too! :)

Here are some pics of Avery in our "big snow". As you know, she's a beach girl, but the snow made her very happy. She had no idea that it was just a light dusting. To her it was if she was in Vail ready to hit the slopes. She had the best time and then an even better time when we came inside and had hot chocolate with a special surprise.. marshmallows! This girl finds joy in almost everything.... oh to learn that.
